Gate 04 · UX Design
Features are abstract until they have a surface. This gate maps the screens and flows your users actually move through, which gives the database schema and the design system something concrete to attach to.
It reads the brief, your features and functionalities, and the tech stack, and that last one matters more than it seems: a mobile stack implies tab-bar navigation, not a desktop sidebar. Tell the Architect how you picture the key flows, onboarding, the core loop, settings, and upload any sketches, wireframes, or references you already have.
The bar for “good” is coverage plus coherence: every functionality has a screen, and the screens connect into flows a real person could follow. If a functionality has nowhere to live, the Downstream Review will catch it.
This isn’t the place for pixel-perfect design, that’s the design system and design screens. Here you’re settling structure and flow. The screens you define become the ones Gate 10 later attaches real visuals to.
